About AskSternRep

AskSternRep is the commercial advertising photography industry educational space sharing two posts per week with a Monday Q&A and what we call “Wednesday Wisdom.” Both focus on expressing candid, eye-opening insights from behind the curtain of an agent’s day-to-day business, offering advice about navigating the necessary topics such as bidding, branding, portfolios, treatments, and a lot more. 

Before becoming a rep, I was a photographer, working on TVC stills-on-sets, eventually leading me to Brooks Institute of Photography. I understand the challenges of pursuing a career in photography with no clear-cut instruction manual, which is why AskSternRep came to life.

After 21 years of repping commercial advertising photographers and directors, I wanted to speak openly, revealing what I witnessed that was causing successes and failures.

If I could see what it takes to make it in this business, why not put the necessary truths out there? 

The informative topics on @AskSternRep outgrew social media. They needed a permanent place to be easily searched by categories, content archives to be scrollable, and the many challenging topics readily available to help photographers locate the support they need.

AskSternRep.com is where real business questions have real-world answers from first-hand photo rep experience.
